Reflections on Homeschooling
I am an avid reader of Melissa McEwen's blog Hunt*Gather*Love. I love reading her thoughts on food and other topics. I was especially happy to read her recent post Reflections on Homeschooling. In this post she shares her own experience as a homeschooler. I especially liked this sentence, "I think the only thing that homeschooling left me at a disadvantage with is that I failed to learn to obey." I see the same thing with my own kids. They are very respectful, but they have learned to think for themselves and they don't appreciate having to conform to others thoughts and beliefs just because they are the norm. Once a person has had the opportunity to think for themselves, there is no going back. I love that my kids have this "disadvantage".
